Twelve Full Merit Scholarships for Negri Sembilan School Leavers

4thApril; Mantin – In line with the launching ceremony of the Drug-Free School Aspiration Campaign of Negri Sembilan(Kempen Aspirasi Sekolah Bebas Dadah Peringkat Negeri Sembilan), Linton University College was privileged not only in hosting this significant state-level event with Negri Sembilan’s National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) in collaboration with the Department of Education of Negri Sembilan (PPDNS) but also the opportunity to present twelve (12) Full Merit Scholarshipsto Yang Berhormat Mohamad Taufek Bin Abdul Ghani – State Assemblyman for the district of Paroi and Chairman of the Youth and Sports Development Action Committee of Negeri Sembilan. 

 

Linton University College’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr Kamis Awang presented these twelve Full Scholarships to YB Taufek after YB’s opening speech and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between AADK and Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia, before officially launching the Campaign.  

These scholarships will be awarded through the discretion of YB Taufek’s team and the Scholarship Board of Linton University College to twelve deserving students of Negri Sembilan to pursue a degree or diploma in various choices of studies under the field of Engineering, Information Technology, and Built Environment, either in Linton University College or its affiliated institute, Pertama Institute of Technology (ITP).

YB Taufek addressed the importance of living in a drug-free community and how schools play a vital role in shaping the upcoming generation. He added that school counsellors hold a strong position and a heavy responsibility towards the growth of the society. He said this to an auditorium filled with Negri Sembilan Secondary School Counsellors, under the Great Teachers Organisation, who was present since the morning of today for a Drug Prevention Seminar organized by AADK and PPDNS.

 

Linton supports the initiatives of the organizers and champions this aspiration for a drug-free environment at tertiary level. Linton is determined in playing an important role in empowering communities through educational success and believes the scholarships awarded will benefit the growth of the community within Negri Sembilan alongside its support with the Government’s effort to promote TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training). 

Last March, Linton presented nine scholarships to YB Arul, State Assemblyman of Nilai. This totals to twenty-one full scholarships made available by Linton University College to its native Negri school leavers through the state government. The event ended with a press conference.
